A pentagram (sometimes known as a pentalpha, pentangle, or star pentagon) is the shape of a five-pointed star polygon whose collinear edges have been connected with intersecting lines. Drawing a circle around the 5 points creates a similar symbol referred to as the pentacle, which is used widely by Wiccans, pagans, or just as a sign of life and connections. The word "pentagram" refers only to the five-pointed star, not the circle surrounding it in a pentacle.
